COLORS Brings TONES of NYC to Knockdown Center

On October 10 and 11, COLORS is hosting TONES of NYC at the Knockdown Center in Queens. Here, it will serve as a unique cultural exploration of live music, art, fashion, workshops, and panels. Since 2016, COLORS has provided a unique platform for artists to curate exceptional, career-changing shows collaboratively. This October will be the debut of TONES to explore New York City’s undoubtedly powerful cultural and creative capital of the world.
Performing on October 10 are Naomi Sharon, Baby Rose, and Alicia Creti. On October 11: Moses Sumney, a debut U.S. show from Bellah, chlothegod, and SadBoi. Spanned across two days and two nights, print publication and interdisciplinary studio Street Dreams will celebrate its tenth anniversary by displaying its global photography community and past works throughout the venue. Half Moon BK‘s Residency in Sound pop-up will feature DJ sets from Dana Lu, Gab Soul, Ken Dollaz, Khalil, Marv, Will Gates, and more.
Panel discussions will include fashion mogul Colm Dillane, also known as KidSuper, and Daily Paper co-founder Hussein Suleiman as they discuss the intersection of fashion and music. New Ways to Release Creative Work is another panel discussion curated by Metalabel to help open doors for creatives to expand and generate income. Author and artist August Lamm, artist and researcher Jazsalyn, pioneering digital artist Molly Soda, and Kickstarter and Metalabel co-founder Yancey Strickler will discuss how artists can release their work in various ways.

Logged Out: Discovering New Music Without Algorithms will invite writers to talk about how they find and curate music to veer away from trends and algorithms. On the panel will be Pitchfork senior writer Alphonse Pierre, interviewer and commenter Margeaux Labat, True Laurels founder Lawrence Burney, and NYC rapper YL. TONES of NYC will also incorporate the art of dance with panels with notable choreographers Charm La’Donna and Amari Marshall.
In addition to the various musicians performing, storied activist and music production non-profit Red Hot will host a first listen of its mighty latest project, TRAИƧA, out November 22. Since 1990, Red Hot has worked on over 20 projects to raise awareness and money for AIDS and HIV causes.
