Danielle Spencer is a powerhouse in herself. As the founder of Some Creative Agency, she aims to advance women’s empowerment. The agency is a hub to help build startups and emerging businesses for entrepreneurs and creatives. Spencer also created In Her Bag, a summit providing aspiring entrepreneurs with opportunities, resources, community, and mentorship. Last weekend, In Her Bag: The Summit took over Shopify’s flagship location in SoHo.

The two-day summit, which began as a pop-up and grew exponentially, featured Nikki Kria, Head of Communications at Kickstarter; Kendall Reynolds, Founder and CEO of Kendall Miles; Imani Nia, VP of Strategy & Partnerships at Brandon Blackwood; LaToya Williams-Belfort, Executive Director of Fifteen Percent Pledge, and many more. The event included interactive activities with attendees, such as workshops, panel discussions, pop-up events, and networking opportunities. These trailblazers shared stories, ideas, and tips for achieving their goals.

“Running a non-profit is very different from running a business,” Williams-Belfort said at the summit. “Aurora and I were able to bridge the gap because she had the entrepreneurial experience and knew how to run a business, and I had executive and non-profit experience.”

Throughout the panel, Williams-Belfort credited her collaborations, resources, and how her vision evolved into a lucrative business.

“Really drill down on the brand story, vision, why you have this idea, and what makes it special because that is what investors are going to want to know,” she said. “Ask yourself, how are you building community? How are you showing up in spaces that they’ve told us, as marginalized individuals or communities, we shouldn’t have access to? Use your economic power to uplift other people and brands.”

While In Her Bag: The Summit was only a two-day event, Spencer and other entrepreneurs and executives are constantly working to help ambitious creatives. Fans of the summit are already eager to attend another one, as networking is an essential factor in succeeding in any business.
