Pretty Sick is on the Way to Stardom — So is Their New Music

The band’s EP, Streetwise, will be released on June 27.

Pretty Sick’s sound takes us back to the days reminiscent of ‘90s grunge rock. However, the modernized alt-band knows no boundaries. Founded by Sabrina Fuentes in 2014 when she was only 13 years old, the Manhattan-born musician redefines the raw, gritty sounds of New York City’s underground scene.

Since their debut self-titled EP in 2017, Pretty Sick has risen to stardom, amassing nearly 40 million streams on just two singles — “Dumb” and “Superstar.” Their music reached new heights in 2022 with the release of Makes Me Sick Makes Me Smile, a project exclusively produced by the legendary Paul Kolderie, known for his work with Hole, Pixies, Radiohead, and more. The band is back again with their latest single, “Streetwise,” a glimpse into their highly-anticipated EP, slated to release on June 27.

While Fuentes has felt restrained in New York City’s creative community, Streetwise will go beyond the coming-of-age era, allowing Pretty Sick to go all out and be as experimental as possible. Streetwise pays homage to Fuentes’ younger self, musical inspirations, and her time in London, where the EP was created alongside Arthur Woesum and Malachy O’Neil. In an age where Gen Z is chronically online and often superficial, this EP will assure you it’s okay to be yourself and let loose.
