TOMBOGO is a rare find in the fashion industry. Not only has he mastered the art of fit and form in each piece, but he also has a keen eye for creating multi-functional apparel. For Spring/Summer 2025, the Los Angeles-based designer presented Reverse Engineering in collaboration with USM Modular Furniture. From bags, outerwear, skirts, and shoes, founder Tommy Bogo remains loyal to combining his fundamental pieces with avant-garde concepts, making him one of the most innovative designers today.

After debuting at Paris Fashion Week last season, Bogo rebranded with a new logo that resembles a rounded ‘+’ sign. However, he’s incorporated this rebrand into his classic, experimental designs that involve utility-centered techniques to construct and deconstruct pieces for multi-functionality at New York Fashion Week. Reverse Engineering showcases 27 gender-neutral looks highlighting versatile, functional, and detachable apparel and accessories.

The runway show began with three TOMBOGO “engineers” preparing to attach pieces of the garments to each look laid out on USM shelves. Models stood on a USM platform as the engineers completed the multi-purpose clothes. The collection experiments with unconventional paints, dyes, washes, and materials like vegan pineapple leather, genuine leather, and waffle thermal. Bogo recreates his signature oversized silhouettes and multiple pockets with even baggier and rounder fits with more pockets on trousers and outerwear like bomber jackets, cropped jackets, moto jackets, and trench coats.

Bogo also taps an avant-garde approach with multi-pocket suits in hyper-modular and adaptable fits. Each piece is accompanied by three-size convertible handbags, sunglasses with lights on them, ventilated hats with metal cords, and the highly-anticipated Tabi Swiper Mules that will be available on September 13. Reverse Engineering also continues Bogo’s love for collaboration, including the Legitimate NFC tag. Each attendee received a branded measuring tape that displayed show notes, post-show content, and interactive digital experiences.

For Tommy Bogo, fashion goes beyond just clothes. During the runway show, he debuted original music, including “Another Time,” the first sound under the TOMBOGO name. His music venture helps him express emotions and vulnerabilities that cannot always be translated through clothing.

“With Reverse Engineering, we didn't just present a collection; we invited our audience to experience the deconstruction and reconstruction of fashion,” Bogo says. “Each piece told a story of functionality meeting creativity, sustainability meeting style. The addition of my personal music to the show added another layer to this story, allowing our audience to connect with the emotion and inspiration behind the designs. By literally deconstructing our creative process on the runway, we offered a unique insight into the TOMBOGO ethos.”
