Designer Toussaint Rosefort is reinventing the idea of dialogue in love and relationships. Inspired by his Haitian, Puerto Rican, and American roots, the designer presented his Fall/Winter 2024 collection, Death of Innocence. The collection encapsulates the inevitability of losing one’s innocence, how people transition from being naive to acquiring wisdom, finding love, and the value of time.

Rosefort tapped into his multicultural background to achieve each piece, with notes of his father’s work uniform, his adolescent karate and sports gear, and music, history, and literary references that impacted his perception of American politics and the government.

The runway show began with white hues representing purity, innocence, and a blank slate. The clothes quickly change from beige to black, portraying one’s youth becoming tainted with life’s complications through wool, denim, and leather motifs. Rosefort focused on tailoring details, textures, and proportions to evoke how our perspectives are constantly changing.

Each piece represents the power of experience and using your voice to fight complacency to define the future. Death of Innocence displays self-expression through an array of Rosefort’s artifacts as a vessel for timeless and seamless garments.
