Jordi Perez and Alex Yarally: Ephemera

Ephemera

Ephemera reflects rebirth and renewal. Director and photographer Jordi Perez worked with designer Alex Yarally to produce and style this fashion-forward film. Ephemera is centered around the brand’s collection. Watch the movie below.

“When we get older, we tend to forget how we grew up and what places and things made up who we are today. I wanted to reclaim my fleeting memories as a capsule of my identity. From the projects to the Met Gala, ‘the best houses of worship are the ones you grew up in.’ I am Dominican, I am Guyanese, I am American, and a New Yorker. I hop on trains into the bloodline of the city and immerse myself in communities filled with history and love. Organically, I built Ephemera out of an emotional need to cling to a resemblance of who he is as a person. We wanted to create a film that reflected this tension of dealing with your darkness and your past in order to grow and heal.

Awakened, Khafeeon recollects the memories of her past. Following a journey of darkness, despair, and distortion, we see her fight through her pain guided by an enigmatic force. Shedding her darkness, Khafeeon wanders in her disoriented haze and comes to a full view of Anzie, the invisible force that guides Khafeeon throughout her journey. She is drawn to Anzie, their hands meet, and Khafeeon is awakened from the dreamscape into her new reality.”
